The Summer School was a highly successful and productive effort, with the students profiting a lot in terms of (1) the subject matter, as there is hardly any formal training/education in Chile on vegetation dynamics and the associated modelling methods, and (2) networking and discussing open questions towards the definition of small research projects by the students.

Student feedback on the contents and format of the course was quite enthusiastic, and therefore we have firm plans to hold a second Summer School on Vegetation Dynamics in Frutillar in January 2020, with the goal of expanding the scope of lecturers (beyond Switzerland and Chile) and the geographical scope of the participants, as the first Summer School was attended by students from Chile and Argentina alone.

The course was very pertinent and well developed in order, from the theoretical to the practical.
